Stop press: new definition of violent crime

I have just learned from a discussion of the impact of the relaxed licensing laws on violent crime that the statistics are distorted by some redefining of violent crimes.

Apparently that man I saw passing water in a New Bond Street doorway was committing a "violent crime." In Glen Ellyn the same dastardly deed would merit a small fine. It seems a little over the top to define one of nature's more natural acts a violent one.

Well just last weekend was the famed bar-mark holiday "Unofficial" here at the UofI. For those not in the know, "Unofficial" is a bar sponsored holiday because St. Patricks day falls during spring break and how could the bars miss out on such a financially favorable holiday?

Regardless, I am sure that there were many inebriated students stagering about campus, on many occasions committing said Violent Crimes. Forgive me, assaulting a student on campus or going on a shooting spree in a lecture hall is a violent crime.

Either way, I missed the decadent fiesta because I chose to galavant down to the wonderful world of Charleston Illinois. My female type counterpart and her friend were considering coming up to UofI but given certain restrictions on consumption of certain beverages were being tightly enforced, why not duck away when all eyes are pointed northward? If Charleston and Eastern Illinois University ever seemed deserted on a weekend because everyone goes to champaign, this weekend one could have guess a thermal nuclear device had just been detonated.

Maybe 1000 psi caused this incident of urination to be violent

So back in the "burbs" I decided to stop by my old romping grounds at COD to visit some old friends - namely my co workers in the warehouse and most importantly - the Super Cyber Savvy Proff himself! regretably, he was not in his office and his office hours were not posted anywhere to be seen. A quick investigation of the C-word labs and classrooms did not reveal him.

You found me absent because I was the other side of the pond. I am now returned should you be around - though I suspect you are back in the fields studying hard...
